Proyecto Filhos de Angola

(Project Son/Daughters of "Capoeira" Angola)- is focused on providing free classes and low cost classes that will help to foster inner city youth and provide them an education that includes history, music, and physical expression to produce several educational outcomes with its main goal to help empower youth to become cultural organizers in their community.

Objectives include:

  • Foster self esteem and confidence. 
  • Teacher- student mentorship that help to improve school attendance and foster personal growth.
  • Raise recognition of boundaries to work effectively in a group.
  • Increase awareness of history and tradition of Capoeira Angola as a cultural manifestation and expression of self preservation.
  • Increased self discipline, confidence and self esteem through the mastery of rhythm maintenance, physical agility, flexibility and self expression
  • Help to foster a harmonious community modeled in the values of respect, discipline, and tradition as a way to strengthen community.
  • Youth becoming guides in the preservation, research, promotion and development of the Capoeira Angola as means to uplift and serve a community
  • Capoeira Angola youth transforming community through culture...

     

Capoeira Angola Youth Scholarship Award.

Awarded to youth who are focused in serving their community and researching the tradition of Capoeira Angola as a means of preserving and uplifting community.
